Learn about a vegetarian and flexitarian lifestyle: Try Without Meat Wednesday

Today is Wednesday, which means it is Without Meat Wednesday. Every Wednesday try consuming only vegetarian foods all day.

A vegetarian lifestyle has great health benefits. Research shows consuming a plant-based vegetarian diet can reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, hypertension, Type 2 diabetes and some forms of cancer.

A vegetarian is a person who consumes fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins. The protein consumed comes from non-meat items.

I do not consider myself a vegetarian, instead I am known as a semi-vegetarian or “flexitarian” who consumes meat 25-50% of the time. I must admit, changing my lifestyle has improved my overall health. I’m proud to call myself a flexitarian.
