July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month: Take care of your entire body including your mental health

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

So this month:

  • Learn about mental illness
  • Take care of your entire body including your mental health
  • Seek help – contact a doctor, mental health professional or your local health department

American gymnast and gold medalist Simone Biles stated during an interview at the TOKYO 2020 Summer Olympics, “Yeah I say put mental health first because if you don’t, then you’re not going to enjoy your sport and you’re not going to succeed as much as you want to.” Watch her entire July 28, 2021 interview on twitter @Olympics The Olympic Games.

Simone Biles is currently a Mental Health Advocate.

Forget about the stigma and seek help.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) stigma causes people to feel ashamed for something that is out of their control. Worst of all, stigma prevents people from seeking the help they need.

Remember it’s okay to seek help.
