Turmeric is a popular spice used in India. It is also one of the main ingredients in curry.

I have been cooking with turmeric for almost 20 years. I add turmeric because it adds extra flavor and some experts believe it helps reduce inflammation.

Inflammation in the body has been known to cause major health problems.

According to Anya Guy a dietitian at the Mayo Clinic, “although curcumin or turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, if you are diagnosed with a condition such as cancer or diabetes speak to your physician before taking the supplement.” Watch the entire video (below)

Turmeric is considered to be safe at doses up to 8 grams per day. Eight grams is equivalent to 1.60 teaspoons, which is a little more than 1 1/2 teaspoons.
