The Daniel Fast: This is my first year following the Daniel Fast

This is my first year following the Daniel Fast and it reminds me of following a vegan lifestyle plus eliminating other food items. Learn about the Daniel Fast.

Some people stay on the Daniel Fast for 10 or 21 days, but I plan to remain on the Daniel Fast for 26 days. I started the Daniel Fast on January 6, 2020 and my last day will be January 31, 2020.

Since I am a (flexitarian) semi-vegetarian I said, “I can do this.” Some days I really miss eating certain foods, but I will survive with lots of will power, prayer and determination.

Giving up foods we love can be very challenging, I know firsthand because I developed a shellfish allergy as an adult just 12 years ago. This was sad and disappointing because I loved shellfish! I had to give up eating shellfish which included shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Avoiding shellfish is my new way of life and my goal is to live healthy with a shellfish allergy and help others live healthy with a Food Allergy.

Fasting teaches us how to give up something, whether it is food or other things like gossiping and spending hours on social media. I believe the Daniel Fast allows us the opportunity to get closer to God while fasting, praying and meditating.

So giving up certain foods on the Daniel Fast might be challenging, but you can do it. Also enjoy reading the following Bible verses Daniel 1:12 and Daniel 10:2-3.

It is also recommended you discuss with your doctor before starting the Daniel Fast or any Fast if you are living with diabetes, kidney disease or other health conditions.
