January is National Oatmeal Month: The reason I eat oatmeal

Most people including myself consume oatmeal because it’s a 100% whole grain oat that can help lower cholesterol. It also provides a great source of fiber.

Oatmeal is also considered a heart healthy food that can help lower cholesterol. This month learn the health benefits of eating oatmeal.

Remember oatmeal is a heart healthy oat, so avoid adding extra fat and cholesterol. I usually cook my oats in water and 2% milk. Then I add brown sugar or half a banana to my oatmeal. There are different types of oatmeal: Rolled Oats, Steel Cut Oats, etc.
