Most people including myself consume oatmeal because it’s a 100% whole grain oat that can help lower cholesterol. It also provides a great source of fiber.

Remember oatmeal is a heart healthy oat, so avoid adding fat and cholesterol. I usually add a small amount of brown sugar or half a banana to my oatmeal. Some people also add granola and other fresh fruit to their oatmeal. Learn more about consuming healthy whole grain oats.
